First Stop: Getting Out of Dodge
Let us be real. Leaving Mexico City can be a bit dicey with traffic. Because of that, the tour I jumped on made a super early start to try to get ahead of any potential delays. I think it was like maybe 6 in the morning, something that I’m clearly never excited for. A bright side to that early wake-up call is that the journey starts before the heat of the day really kicks in. It tends to be a bit pleasant to stroll around ancient ruins when you are not sweating all over the place, very!
That said, something pretty crucial about early access trips like this is understanding if they actually save you from a big issue: loads of other travelers. The real pull, it turns out, isn’t just skipping traffic but also beating most people to the site. Getting the place mostly to yourself can improve how much you enjoy visiting and taking everything in. Is it jam-packed? Can make or break a visit, very much.
Teotihuacan: Beating the Crowds (Hopefully!)
Okay, so Teotihuacan… What an awesome place to visit! The idea with this early access part is that you get to traipse through this ancient city more or less before basically anyone else even thinks about turning up. Believe me, you’re walking among those incredible pyramids just as the sun starts peaking out. When I went, it really made a difference. Very few folks were there yet. I could actually pause, snap some photos, and you know, breathe in the history without bumping into a ton of people. It almost feels like you are the only one there which is pretty awesome.
Is always a slam dunk? Maybe not, but it tips the scales to what I think might be an overall better visit. Check out, a trip without those huge crowds lets you kind of imagine what life could’ve been like way back then. Being able to go to places such as the Pyramid of the Sun or the Avenue of the Dead and savor a quiet moment is great. Just think of seeing those gigantic places standing tall when things are serene. Definitely adds something special. I assure you.
Tula: An Unexpected Highlight?
Now, Tula? To be honest, Tula wasn’t even something I knew too much about prior to signing on for this tour. So, Tula is neat since it showcases the Toltec civilization; which you know, is a whole other chapter of old Mesoamerica. So, you’ve got these big, sculpted warrior figures (the Atlantes). And also, you have like a really cool pyramid to peek at. Getting to wander this spot, which sees way less foot traffic than places such as Teotihuacan, ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the entire day.
These towering stone warriors? Standing up there, they are really cool to see up close and just capture the imagination. Tula, to me, shows more to see beyond the main touristy locations. If you are curious, you might want to try and discover new cultures or dig a bit more, stopping at Tula would prove valuable for you. It gives a really deep perspective of the area’s background.
What About the Guides and Transportation?
I’ve learned something with these trips. Guides are key! The folks leading this particular tour knew everything. Because they knew what they were doing they offered some fun background on all the things. Very knowledgeable individuals gave details that truly brought everything together for me, is something I can say for sure.

And it is also really critical? The bus situation, and to be completely honest, it was perfectly fine. It was not at all like ridiculously lavish, yet it was comfy to ride around in. Air conditioning worked nicely. To me? It all made the transitions between sites stress-free so that you aren’t wasting any of your energy worrying about any moving logistics. A fine state of affairs, I’d say.
The Food Scene: Where Did We Eat?
You probably want to chow down at some point, okay? Many tours stop somewhere that offers a wide array of popular regional plates. It is generally that buffet thing, which gives one chances to eat all kinds of things one might feel like. Because there is often all sorts of grub, this would likely make anyone, even pickier eaters, content with their food options.
And really something super fun to consider here is sampling food? Just as much like plunging oneself deep into all of the backgrounds here, because all different kinds of meals and spices and tastes totally showcase parts regarding a locale’s ethos and origins! If traveling somewhere? I always tell people who ask, that seeing just food alone is just as culturally informative!
Downsides? Possible Caveats?
Okay, being real here. Early really is *early*. Waking at the crack of dawn can be hard. If you are not a morning person at all, this should not be the first trip you should book, very. So the question becomes if the potential upside relating to diminished hordes justifies losing shuteye time. Okay.
As you might’ve predicted? There are actually absolutely zero ironclad guarantees as it pertains to crowd control here. As the way goes… Stuff can be sporadic, of course! In certain situations? More folks also sprung for early entry to start! Thus? Is going before everyone? Necessarily a full lock that means more elbow room? Zero chance, my friend.
Money Talk: Worth the Extra Dough?
And this really gets down to that key thing, costs, and perceived worth in regard to money. Will it prove wise shelling over some extra money in exchange to join a jaunt just like what I joined? And again, unfortunately I must advise that everything does come down in order to one’s private sensibilities, but, permit me provide a succinct framework from which your answer may reveal itself organically!
Evaluate seriously whether less throngs hold an especially appreciable degree of desirability as it pertains to maximizing personal savoring relating to older and culturally meaningful locations! Evaluate with similar focus as to whether those kinds of quiet introspective occasions hold huge gravity for yourself alone. Given that you respond back within the affirmatively under the circumstances… Spend that money. Otherwise?
