Tanjung Benoa: A Water Sport Wonderland

The Bali Iconic Tour often kicks off, you see, at Tanjung Benoa, it does. Tanjung Benoa is very famous for, you know, the water sports it has, and it can get quite hectic. As a matter of fact, rows of vendors, too it’s almost as if they’re trying to get your attention, are eager to sell you everything ranging from jet skis to parasailing and banana boat rides. Very, very cheap deals are waved in your face and it could all get a bit hectic, isn’t it? Personally, water sports really are not my thing, right, but I gave parasailing a try, that’s what I did. Floating above the sea provided that, just that, beautiful look, that slight sense of freedom, and it was very cool, right? I mean, this bit did provide some stunning memories of Bali’s shores.

Recommendation: Bargain hard! The initial prices, that’s correct, are inflated for tourists. Maybe you walk away, anyway. Don’t be afraid to negotiate, and you might get a much better rate. As a matter of fact, visit early in the morning, that way you’ll beat the crowds and very enjoy calmer seas for water activities, you would. Plus, maybe consider booking in advance so you can find deals online. I mean, I wished I had, you know?

Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park: A Majestic Marvel

Next, that would be the GWK Cultural Park, of course, and this one, I mean this spot really surprised me, it did. The massive statue of Garuda Wisnu, is that its magnificent, towering in the distance, definitely. GWK is not just a statue; basically, GWK is a park presenting Balinese art, culture and religion, right? I am not talking only, of course, just dancers and musicians, very ready to wow the audience, but maybe there is also story time and interesting workshops that you can see. By the way, there are quiet spots to sit and quietly admire the landscape. As a matter of fact, that’s something you really, really should take the opportunity to do.

As I was saying, that thing which stands out the most really has to be the sheer size of the statue, isn’t it? I’m telling you, it is just incredible up close. When I visited, too it’s almost like there was this incredible dance performance happening in the amphitheater, and it really showcased Balinese storytelling. As a matter of fact, it all looked great, you see? I think it gave a whole new angle, is that, of local traditions.

Recommendation: Try to check the schedule ahead so that you get a chance to see, and it’s important you get a chance to see, a cultural performance or activity. The park can get very hot, right, very, so take your water, bring it, you really should, wear sunscreen and a hat. I mean, this is a very beautiful place so definitely allow three to four hours to really have time to look at things.

Uluwatu Temple: Sunset Spectacle

Okay, for me, the Uluwatu Temple really, really stood out, right? Sitting high above a cliff, so overlooking the sea, so it gave, I mean the setting, it’s spectacular, you see? First, you know, just to get there, so you need to pass through a small forest filled with monkeys. Monkeys, you see, they’re very naughty here, yet, so watch your belongings. Secondly, then there is the Temple that you visit and from there the views will totally mesmerize you, right? It all makes you understand, well why the Balinese find this area really special, is that they do. What is that building over there? What is over there in the distance? It is so good!

Many iconic tours, I see, keep guests for a Kecak fire dance near sunset, you know, because this dance tells an amazing tale of Hindu legend, but I had some problems with it. Very, very busy, yes, it gets rather busy, that’s correct, so you will be rubbing shoulders, literally rubbing shoulders, with so many other tourists to find a good spot, it seems. Plus, that poor show got disrupted by rain; Basically, everyone, actually, just crammed under small shelters.

Recommendation: Watch your things, like your glasses, maybe some cameras, and you keep your things out of reach, or it is just gone in a second, with these pesky monkeys you see on the roads. Then, reach early for a prime spot and the sunset shots are so, so nice. On the other hand, is that skip that Kecak dance? Then, if there is the threat of rain you can skip that and so just enjoy sunset instead. It can get truly meditative, it’s really quite special.

Jimbaran Bay: Seafood Feast

Usually, the Bali Iconic Tour, that’s right, will bring people over to Jimbaran Bay so people can experience grilled seafood, isn’t that nice? You basically choose, okay, what do you want from the live seafood options, then sit at a table on the beach, and wait to see the most beautiful sunset, you will. I was here last time, too it’s almost, anyway, but it looked good, and what’s not, is that right?

To be honest, while some travelers call this really great, like truly fantastic, it wasn’t perfect for me, it was not. Of course, you might want to go to Jimbaran so you can try those tastes; it looks perfect, is that a perfect way, to cap off your day and see the best sunsets that the island has to offer, yet. However, my food seemed fine, like more or less average and very overpriced, just as a matter of fact. The hawkers also can ruin your experience and stop you from admiring everything that Bali has to offer, right, it does.

Recommendation: That said, so bargain, okay, you really have to, you have to bargain before you order your dinner, you know? Prices, what I saw, are way inflated. If you don’t like crowds then ask your guide to find a quieter, okay, secluded spot somewhere that is away from it all. Then, you can check reviews, okay, just make sure that reviews are updated, maybe, maybe before picking the restaurant.

Tegalalang Rice Terraces: Nature’s Masterpiece

I went on many tours to places; they always brought you to Tegalalang Rice Terraces because you get that really amazing, classic photo of Bali’s green beauty. Here, the steep terraces, they just step down to a very green, pretty valley. That bit is an agricultural landscape but somehow it gets to be very tranquil for its many visitors. Even as you wander through those pathways you just can feel, like you do connect with something more than what the other tours bring, right?

Honestly, it gets very crowded and people want “the perfect shot” – as you see many people doing yoga on things, anyway. So that ruins this experience slightly. Also, some of it seems like its built to get more dollars from tourists rather than show what its like being Bali, okay?

Recommendation: First, go very early so you will dodge loads of tourist buses and enjoy the place some more quietly. Then just wear those comfy shoes if you want to do anything interesting, like just do some walking! Be careful, you know, of things they will want to take your money with when people say “donation.” You pay just for the right Bali experience – if you want that, very.
