Tokyo, right, it’s almost like this enormous puzzle, just so it’s full of different pieces that come together in remarkable ways. The downtown areas, often referred to as shitamachi, that’s where the real charm bubbles up. Very, very different from the bright lights of Shibuya or Shinjuku, the older districts offer something so much more authentic and heartfelt. They tell tales of old Edo, is that correct?, featuring family-run stores that have kept at it for generations, tiny alleyways with hidden restaurants, and just that very feeling of a world away from the hectic pace a bit closer to the central areas.
